Isaac lied to the people of Philistine that Rebekah was his sister until Abimelek caught him one day from his window where he saw Isaac caressing Rebekah.
Abimelek asked Isaac, “but you said this was your sister?
Isaac said he had to lie because he didn’t want the people of the land to kill him if he said Rebekah was his wife.
Abimelek responded that Isaac could have brought judgement upon them if anyone had touched Rebekah not knowing she was his wife.
So Abimelek ordered every man in the land to stay away from Rebekah and anyone who touches her shall be put to death.
Isaac stayed in that land as instructed by God and he grew so much in wealth.
He became so rich that the Philistines began to fear him and got envious of him.
They filled up all the wells that Isaac’s father Abraham’s servant’s had dug with earth so that those wells would stop flowing with water.
And one day, the same Abimelek who stood with Isaac ordered him to leave their land and that Isaac had become so powerful for them.
Isaac parked up and left, he reopened the well of his father that had been filled with earth, the Philistines contended with him again and took it, his servants dug up another, the same contention.
Then he dug up another and the contention stopped and there was peace.
He named that well REHOBOTH, room had been made for him.
Isaac became UNSTOPPABLE!!!
He was a man of FOCUS.
He had no time to argue
He was a man who left everything for contenders and readily MOVES ON.
He didn’t fight their fight of envy or wasted his effort on unnecessary EXPLANATION.
Isaac prospered so much that Abimelek had to come and see him all the way with his personal adviser and head of his army to make a pact with Isaac because they felt he could destroy them with his level of wealth and power.
And Isaac who was just minding his life and business was taken aback but they made the peace treaty, he hosted them, took good care of them and sent them away.
Lesson:
1.Don’t ever contend with people who are envious of you.
2.Don’t waste your time arguing with them
3.Understand God’s love and blessing in your life and stay in that knowing as you work hard and focus on your business.
4.They say that it’s their’s, live it for them.
5.They want to pull it off your body, readily pull it off and give it to them.
6.They contend with you, shake off the dust off your feet and keep it moving.
7.Blessed people do not contend with envious adversaries, you keep it moving while you allow God respond to them on your behalf.
Isaac was a FOCUSED man, we can take a cue from his life.
